Kennel Cough

Kennel cough, or infectious tracheobronchitis, is a common upper respiratory infection caused by contagious bacteria or viruses. As the name suggests, it often spreads in dog kennels, animal shelters, and other places where many dogs gather. Kennel cough causes tracheal inflammation, resulting in a loud, honking cough. Bordetella, a common bacterial cause of kennel cough, can be prevented with a vaccine.
